How old are the kids? Is it just a local club comp?

It's a local comp, but it's not a junior comp. My lad is 14 and is the youngest playing against adults.

Seems like the organiser has made the right decision to stick to the rules and confirm re-scheduling the match is never an option even if both players agree to re-schedule. Sort out the cue and carry on or concede. Not the outcome the opponent wanted to hear but it will be a learning experience. Do a good job of putting a tip on and always have the tools to do an emergency re-tip or have another cue. Or just use a rack cue to get the match concluded. A player could ask to re-schedule for a false reason when it's done because they are playing badly. Not suggesting that happened in this situation but that could be exploited so wise for future tournaments to keep the rules rigid.

The Tournament Organiser made the right decision .

He was given 2 options …..replace the tip or use another cue.

He declined both , so he can’t have any complaints.

I bet if the roles were reversed , he’d have claimed the match .

Aye one hundred percent take the result, why is an adult acting like that for a daft local comp, some folk really need a bit of perspective.

I agree the correct decision was taken by the tournament organiser.Once you shake hands that’s it.Your Son gave his opponent every chance to repair his cue or use another cue.If you played at a later date your Son would have been at a disadvantage.The rules are there so it’s fair for everyone.If the situation was reversed I be surprised if your son was given the opportunity to play the last frame another day.I hope your son doesn’t let this effect him and plays well in his next match.

If it was not an official event, I would go with agreement between players, but I don't understand affected player refusing to play with spare cue or changing his tip, he should have used either of these two options. Also, you don't want to cause delay, as tournaments are usually time demaning.

This weekend, I was playing a tournament, and my tip split after few shots, so I was in the similar position. My friend offered me to use his cue for the rest of the match, so we continued the match in 3 minutes or so. Problem was, he actually mistaken his case with someone else's, so I was playing with not his cue, but with the cue that belonged to other random player. Well, after 5 shots, this time the tip fell off .... unlucky I guess. So in the end, I had a chance to use the 3rd cue in one frame, the one I had been offered to use after the tip of my own cue split .... :-)
