Hi all, I have a question about a situation that occured last monday between me and my teammate training at our club with only the pink and black left on the table.

My friend made a foul while trying to hit the pink that was tight in the corner pocket with the black close to it blocking any path to the pink.

I was left with a free ball where I obviously nominated the black to pot the pink in the corner pocket.

As far as I'm aware this is completely legal and I wanted to pot the black afterwards to finish the frame off. Another player said that I earned the six points, but that the pink should return on it's own spot again. Yet another teammate however thought I made a foul and that my opponent should get 6 points and the pink should be put back on it's spot.

    What is the rule here?

More hypothetically I wonder what happens if I was to pot both balls in the same shot. Do I get 12 points then? Does any ball get back on the table then?

Please let me know what are the rules in this specific situation.

    Thanx!

Using the nominated Free Ball to pot the Ball On is NOT a foul.
The nominated Free Ball HAS to be the ball FIRST contacted by the Cue Ball (or simulatneously with the Ball On).
Your scenario - the Ball On being the Pink, Pink potted, with only colours on table, colour stays off the table (of courseas long as no other foul occurs in that stroke).

      Sec 3.12((d)
If a ball on is potted, after the cue ball hit the nominated free ball first, or simultaneously with a ball on, the ball on is scored and remains off the table.

Both Nominated Free Ball and the Ball On are potted.
Only one scoring value, so you get 6 points, and the Black is spotted and is now Ball On.

      Sec 3.12((e)
If both the nominated free ball and a ball on are potted, only the ball on is scored unless it was a Red, when each ball potted is scored. The nominated free ball is then spotted and the ball on remains off the table.

The reason given for only 1 scoring value for the Colours is that at the start of the match you only have one of each clour and multiple Reds, hence you can score multiple values with Reds.
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

Thanks for the answers before regarding penalties and full-ball snookers during ascension phase!
