Loss Of Frame?

Playing snooker the other night I cleared brown, blue, pink and missed the black and the white ball went in causing me to foul, this put the scores with the foul added to 47 to my friend and 46 to me, he claimed the frame saying that cause I fouled on the black it was loss of frame even though I could still win being only 1 point behind now, is this correct as we had a big debate about it and would like to know for certain for future games?.

Your friend is correct. If a player fouls on the black, that is the end of the game, and the winner is the player ahead on points after that foul. The only exception is if the scores are then tied, in which case it is a respotted black

Hi Tomxlisa! I'm afraid to say your friend is right! Points can only be scored off the black (either by potting or fouling) once! The only exception being for a re-spot black, but that is technically a different black!

4. End of Frame, Game or Match

(a) When Black is the only object ball remaining on the table, the first pot or foul ends the frame excepting only if the following conditions both apply:
(i) the scores are then equal; and
(ii) aggregate scores are not relevant.
(b) When both conditions in (a) above apply:
(i) the Black is spotted;
(ii) the players draw lots for choice of playing next;
(iii) the next player plays from in-hand; and
(c) When aggregate scores determine the winner of a game or match, and the aggregate scores are equal at the end of the last frame, the players in that frame shall follow the procedure, commonly known as a re-spotted Black, set out in (b) above.
