  • I was quite happy with the Kamui MH Black I originally put on but after awhile I became a little suspicious of it and replaced it with a Talisman S. Well, 3 days ago the Talisman was worn out and I put on another Kamui and yesterday I noticed I was missing quite a few hard shots with it.

Thinking it was likely me, I picked up my 360 training cue and tried some long hard shots and was hitting the pocket every time, so went back to the TW with the Kamui and missed the pocket almost every time. After one last check with the 360 where everything went well I've decided to take off the Kamui and replace it with a Talisman S.

Problem is I have a ranking tournament on Saturday so I'd better get on with it.

I'm going to get some Phoenix tips from Stu at Green Baize and check those out and I just realized I have a couple of MW super tips here so maybe I'll try one of those and see how it goes

    • Are you saying that the 2nd Kamui MH is incosistent with the first one you tried?

I remember you saying you got the batch of Kamui MH's from Stu so I assume they are from the same pack.

I have read others saying that Kamuis are fantastic when you first put them on and then characteristics change in a short time where many have been unhappy with them.

I must admit, not used Kamui but I've had similar experiences with Talisman and Phoenix. Brilliant to start with then they go hard and dont hold chalk well and confidence disappears. I've now gone back to pressed tip (MW) and it's been great and consistent for a good part of 2-3 months now.

I did get 5 Kamui MH Blacks from GB. The first one I tried became inconsistent after about 2 weeks of playing daily and I switched it for a Talisman S which lasted about 3 months of daily playing until the top layer came loose on one side.

Three days ago I replaced the Talisman with another Kamui MH and the first 2 days went well but on the third day I noticed I was missing a lot of pots, especially long harder shots. So I agree that the Kamui 11mm MH Black tips seem to develop some kind of inconsistency after some play and I haven't really figured it out but I suspect they might be a little harder on one side compared to the other although I do break my tips in using a hammer before I play with them.

I've just put a MW SuperTip on the cue and shortly I'll shape that up and see how it goes and report back. If that one doesn't work out I'll install either a Talisman, ProGranite or else I have a very nice Omin layered tip here I might try. Supposed to be a little harder than a Talisman Soft and that might be the same for the MW SuperTip.

Have you tried just the Medium black Kamui as opposed to the Medium Hard? I've had one on for around 4 weeks now
with no problems and think I prefer it to the Soft Talisman. I've not tried the Medium Hard ones.

I tried the Kamui M Black first but I had the same problem. I used it for about 3 weeks and then I noticed I was missing too much, which I normally blame myself for as it's usually upper body movement. Now I have a spare cue here with a good tip on it and I check myself with that or the 360 training cue.

Well, I put on the MW SuperTip and tried it out today. Started making those long pots again - thankfully. did one attempt at the line-up and had a 137 (had to take a green off the last red) and then I played about 7 frames normally with a 132 high break and a bunch of 50, 60 & 70 breaks so I think the tip is fine and I hope it works this weekend for the ranking tournament since I usually get a lousy draw.

              • Recently got a Pool Baron tip from ADR147 to test on my pool cue with a 8.2mm ferrule.
Played some snooker with it as well - usually as practise before going onto the pool matches.
So far so good, I like the feel and sound of it.
My snooker cue (9.5mm) has an Elkmaster on it, previously it had a very hard laminated tip (make/model unknown) which I detested, the sound was awful and no feel at all - it was literally like a slab of rock on it (I am not saying it was a Granite tip ).
The Elkmaster is good but maybe a tad too hard for me still.
I also got (from ADR147 again) some Tweeten Buffalo Blue Diamond Plus tips to try out but not put one one yet. As ADR says these tips are like what the old Blue Diamond (from Brunswick I think ?) used to be like, so I thought I would give then a go - at some point
                Up the TSF! :snooker:

That's good going in practice. Hopefully you have found the ultimate tip with the characteristics you are looking for.

                          • I like the Brunswick blue diamond but i find this tip is getting worn out very fast. I will try the Phoenix tips when my current Talisman medium on my new Craftsman cue needs replacement.

                            Cheers everyone

I got one of these trimmed to 9.75, once you get used to it, it's very good. Best tip i've used. Tried Woodridge supers.
