I have actually refinished mine, using a grain filler and then using q gel and q lac, and it looks fantastic. I had a habit of cleaning it periodically with a rung out baby wipe which obviously diminishes the oil finish over time, so needs topping up with oil/wax.

Update for you chaps. I went ahead and purchased the maximus Immortal 56" cue that I provided a link to at #8 above.
I've been using it for a week now and I have to say that I am extremely pleased with it. I've had a few breaks in the high 20's and so I am hopeful that once I'm well settled with it that bigger breaks will come.
Thanks to all for the input/help/guidance. As always, much appreciated.
