Hello everyone. I recently purchased a full size Burroughes and Watts table, its in great nick for it's age but needs reclothing, was originally going to get the packs of Strachan 6811 on Ebay for around £250 but today I popped into my local snooker equip dealer and he has 2 strachan Tournament No10 cloths for £100 a piece, he says (and he's a reliable bloke) that they were used on last years World Championship tables at the Crucible and have only had a few matches played on them, they certainly looked like new, I would have to source the cushion cloth elsewhere but for 100 notes seemed like a bargain... or is it? Realistically how long should I get out of these cloths, they will only be used on average for about 10-15 frames/week, anyone reclothed a table in a Tournament cloth? Any comments/help appreciated

I'd guess in theory you could get 6 months to a year out of it. Depending on how well you brush it and if you use a good quality horse hair brush (i.e. not too rough) and how well you iron it (i.e speed and angle of ironing is crucial in extending life of cloth).
I'd normally recommend not getting pro grade cloth for domestic use but at this price, i'd go for it but perhaps only if you can get the banks done in same grade cloth.
#10 normally runs at around £400+ depending on who you get it from.
#6811 runs at around £200+ but will last so much longer and what I used on my table.
It all comes down to how good the guy is at fitting it. There's no point getting top grade if the fitter is not top grade himself. It needs stretched by a skilled fitter.
Ask someone who's ran #10 with 6811 banks to see how it played. I'm not so sure about using different grades for the bed and banks to be honest.
Good luck mate!Last edited by poona; 26 February 2009, 12:08 AM.

Thanks for your advice, been looking back at posts regarding grades of cloth and it certainly fits into to what you say regarding the life of the Tournament cloth, looks like 6811 is favourite then, although was playing on tables in a local club yesterday that were coverered with Riley cloths which played very nicely and seem cheaper than Strachan, be interested in anyones elses comments or advice on choices available, thanks
