  • played again today, something has clicked for me...made 70 then later equalled my highest break of 119(for the 3rd time!),then made a 93 missing the last black for another century.never made more than one century in a day..think that might be my best chance.

    • I am normally a regular 100 break maker but i was well pleased with myself this week as i knocked in 110 with my 9ball cue. Was trying as a bit of a challenge. Just thought i would put it up as its been one of my best breaks considering. lol.

Actually that might be a useful excercise for those of us who always leave ourselves too straight on the next ball ... did you consciously think to leave yourself a good angle every shot?

Well the art in any break-building is to play for areas and margin for error. Always leaving angles on the colours to be able to maneuver the cue ball, unless of course you need to be straight.
I always try to play for choices of reds, meaning, look for way that you will be on a red if you under-hit or over-hit your positional shot.

            • I hit a 51 on Thursday night, my 2nd half century! I'd been playing awful in the 5 frames I'd played with my dad but in the last frame it all changed! I was unlucky not to get more really. I was left with a half-ball pink into the middle from it's spot and the last 2 reds didn't go. Screwed into them but the white stuck on it! I was chuffed with my 51 though!

                  • Gettin there

Had a 65 on Wednesday only to miss a fine cut on the black even ended up on the next red to make matters worse lol

Thats now my second highest break.... with my highest being 86... this one was a nightmare... my mate broke off, then I started potting... couldn't miss... even the split into the pack worked out perfectly. No ball was any closer to the cushion than the black on its spot. Potted a red to screw up for the pink just beside the blue spot to hit 87 and caught it too sweet and went in off... totally gutted lol

After my previous club tightened their pockets... with extra rubber and no templates everyone was struggling to hit 20... totally ruined my confidence... so in our new club, run by Eddie Irvine... I've had 38, 39, 40, 41, 43, 45, 48, 49, 50, 51, 53, 56, 59 and the 65.... all within the past month... so happy my confidence is returning

what a frustrating, yet addictive game this is....

                            • nice JRobbins, unlucky mate it will come soon

i was determined not to let a 21 break be my highest break so far this week so went back the club about 10.30 and have just come home, now have a high break of 36, 34, 31, 27, 27, 25.

still nothing substancial but its better than hitting 20 and falling off which is what ive been doing recently

I know exactly what you mean though, it can be so frustrating when you just can't seem to get a sizeable break together even when deep down you know you're capable of doing it.
