anyone microwave a tip b4 fitting

can anyone tell me if they have done this and how would it effect the tip would it make it more harder. Or does it have some other effect .any input welcome on this thread

Yeah I know a of a few pros that do this, after heating they then put the tip in a vice for a few hours before fitting this hardens up the tip.

thanks ferret so even without a use of a vice would it still make the tip harder. Using an elk at the moment but just like it to be slighty harder dnt have access to a vice

I do that for about 45s to 1 min. It does make the tip harder I think, but that depends also on the tip you pick to begin with.

thanks poolqj currently using an elk . By the way which one do u microwave and ever tried doing the elk .

I use Elk master. Usually, I took Trevor White's advice and test the firmness of the tip by pressing my finger nail into the side.

I clap it on a vice sometimes, but sometimes I dont. Then I microwave it.

The microwave technique definitely works.
However, don;t mike it for too long. 40/45 secs...plenty.
