  • Matthew Stevens can he return to form ?

I would like to hear what my fellow snooker fans think about matthew stevens for me he is such a talented player and he is my 2nd favourite player and he should have won the world title at least once and i really hope he can return to the top of snooker where he belongs.

Thoughts on Matthew Stevens and what his snooker future is and can he get back in the top 16 again ?

It is my honest opinion that we have seen the best Matthew Stevens can produce. It is with great sadness that I dont predict a comeback to the top 16-where he undoubtably belongs.

Unfortunately being the mutually disappointing term. What HAS happened? Did the death of Paul Hunter affect him so badly? Is he genuinely not better than the likes of Fu, Day, Perry and a few more of the likes?

I hope he can one day win a world title but he seems to be effected by pressure in the same was as Michael Holt and until both players get over their nerves then I do not hting we are going to see either of them achieve very much.

He reached a final earlier in the season, so why not? He's still young enough. Mark King returned to the top 16 last season at the age of 34. King is a more relaxed player who doesn't feel pressure, while Stevens has relied on his natural ability in the past and will now have to battle his way back like King has always done

I wonder is matthew still practising hard though he did say earlier in the season that he was practicing hard and he wanted to get back on form but since his good result in bahrain and last 16 appearance at the uk he has done nothing.

His result against gould suggests matthew isnt practising enough because matthew should beat gould if he prepared properly and not get hammered 10-4.

Is he still into playing poker? If so i wonder how much of an effect that has had on his game, as he clearly enjoys it and has had some success from it too! May have taken the edge off his Snooker.

good point spike you could be right for me he is so talented and made the game look so easy if he dedicated himself and practised enough he would be back at the top of the game

I don't understand why Matthew 'undoubtedly belongs in the top 16'. Based on his performances of the last two years there is absolutely no doubt that Matthew Stevens does not belong in the top 16.

I think most will realise he doesnt based on his performances in the last 2 years and this is clearly not what I meant. Generally he does based on his ability.

3 ranking quarter finals in 4 years when he should be at his peak?

                          No chance of a return.

Not to mention his left hand is probably second two O'Sullivan. He's also a very good long-potter. It's just a confidence issue with him, nothing more. If he played on the top of his game, he'd be at least World #3. Matthew used to be one of my favourite players when he was back in the Top 16 some years back but he's just slipped so much that I've forgotten about him.

For me its down to matthew if he practises hard he can do well like bahrain last year and uk championship where he beat ryan day easily and lost to marco fu who was in great form but he needs to practise hard i believe he can get back in the top 16 where he belongs
