I think I´ve seen somewhere that McManus has been to 10 finals and only won one of them. Can anyone confirm that ?

I think Dott holds the record of most finals before his first triumph with four but Day isn't too far behind. Stevens' record in finals is appalling.

I think you're right; while Davis won his first 7 (and 19 of his first 21! The exceptions were of course the '85 and '86 world finals), and Williams won his first 6.

McManus won 2 of his 8 ranking finals; it was his semi-final record that was very poor (considering he was good enough to reach so many): 8 wins out of 26.
