When I put my 3/4 cue together, I get it fairly tight but then change my grip and give it one more good torque. Can the joint be over-tightened?

If the joint is not glued well, inside the wood it can crack the shaft..Comment

There isn't really any need to over-tighten it. Just screw the cue together and you're done, of course, make sure it isn't loose but don't ram the cue together.

it was on a friends cue at 1st you could tell because the grain wasnt matching up anymore. over the course of a few months it got worse and eventually the bottom thread came off altogether which also put a little split in the cue just under the joint. he had to have a completely new joint put inOriginally Posted by Wayne G View PostComment

Damn straight. A "friend" broke what was my first cue that I'd kept for sentimental reasons. It was a cuecraft sherwood cue with one of those triangular type quick joints. Upon removing the extension and attaching the butt again I could see him turning and turning, and before I could stop him he'd produced crack about 6" up from the joint.
