    Thank you.
We have some veterans clubs in Canada which are almost identical to the format of the working men's club.
members would put money into a box to turn the light on or pay at the bar, usually it is about 25 cents (Canadian) for 20 minutes, works out to be a bit less than .75 pounds an hour.

With the conservative club or working men's clubs, do you have to know someone to become a member?

I don't know if I am right in saying this but from what I have noticed is the clubs with very poor tables are actually quite expensive! This is the case in a club near me.

I play (very rarely as I have poor eye sight now) but my local ex rileys club charges

          £3.50 hr daytime (noon -6)
          £4.50 hr evening (6 - Midnight)

They do have an offer of:
          £8 (noon-6)
          £10 (6-midnight)

Both of which aren't bad, albeit the tables are average at best and don't get cleaned often enough, also the bar tarrif is a little over priced and not child freindly (coke expensive / food expensive) but saying that the prices are on a par with other clubs but I would prefer the club to be full at lower prices (20% - 30% lower probably) especially during the day when its a ghost club.

Clubs must realise that footfall is an important issue as is providing "reasonable" standards, ok by all means charge a premium for high standards but the general player wants to come in and have a friendly game and not leave thinking they have been robbed.

A regular customer is a happy customer and a regular customer often becomes a better player so are more likely to join you teams and more likely to play on the premium tables.

Too many clubs are forcing players away by charging over the top prices and hurting the game by pricing youngsters out of the game.

The same is being done at football grounds, how much is it these days for a family ticket to a premiership match?.

We know clubs have to make a profit but some clubs are just cutting their own throats.

The other club I visit is a private members club and only has 3 tables, 2 of which are average and the other is match quality in its own room, and is 20p for 10 minutes, with £19 a year membership.

Drinks are cheaper and the place is child friendly and the prices at the bar are reasonable.
All smelling pistakes (c) my keyboard, I can spell but it can't type

In Toronto, charge cdn$12 per hour (GBP$6.8), tables are not in good condition at all, any where else is better quality, or lower rate in Toronto?
