  • Question about a Davis vs. White match from late 80's

Just watched a final between Steve Davis and Jimmy White. Davis won 5-4. It seems impossible to find any information about this tournament. All I know is that it probably is the 1988 Norwich Union Grand Prix. Was this a ranking one? Because on the tape it says "1989 European Trophy". Help please!

It was the 1988 Norwich Union Grand Prix.
It was held in the Beach Plaza Hotel in Monte Carlo, it wasn't a ranking tournament, 8 players played in it from the start.
    The first prize was £50,000.
In the third frame of that match Davis made the highest break of the tournament - a 136.

        You're welcome!
That info was from a book from 1989 called "Snooker" funnily enough!
I'd read about the match before I'd even seen it!
And you're welcome for the 147, good commentary from Hendry too
