    1. Has the weight and type of cloth changed over the last few years? I thought the weight of professional cloth was 38 oz. per yard. When I covered my table last, I used a Strachan cloth of 30 oz. From random comments I seem to hear that now the cloth is more smooth (less nap) than previously. Is the Strachan cloth now used similar to the Simonis 860 cloth used on pool tables?

    2. In the snooker clubs in the UK, does one have to be a member of the club to play, or are they open to the general public?

    3. How are you charged for playing. Here in the USA, snooker used to cost $.25 per game. Now most places charge by the hour ($6.00 to 7.00 per hour). That charge is billed to the one who is given the balls at the start of the session. At the end of the session, the time is usually split between the two players. How is it done where you play?

I would love to come to the UK and play sometime.

The clubs I play (?) at, charge 50p or £1 per 1/2 hour. If you are not a member, then a member can sign you in, but usually this is restricted to so many times a year.
You are only the best on the day you win.

It depends where you play. If you go to a small local social club then you would most likely need a membership but a big snooker centre maybe not.

most snooker clubs you will have to pay to "sign in" then possibnly pay a higher rate for table hire, private clubs, you will need a member to sign you in and also a lot of places are members only on the tables...
