Sorry for the late reply guys- just seen this thread! I recommend NOT playing with a glove unless it is impossible to cue smoothly without one. I would love to be able to play without a glove. If you have no alternative you quickly get used to it and it becomes the norm/second nature.

yes you are righr Nigel gilbert did where a glove, he was based in Bedford. I played him a few times too!!

Playing with cue gloves are totally can't feel the timber, these are more suitable for those who got sweaty palm and skin problems, just my two cents.

had to coax my friend to get a glove..
He used to swet like anything from his hands and to counter that he would be applying loads of talcum powder turning everything around him (the table me and all in a 10 ft radius) to white color...

I think almost good cue makers here can easily solve your mate problems without wearing gloves, good luck!

I have a glove but rarely use it though it does come in handy in those very humid conditions.
In one particular venue I ocassionally play at there is a sauna nearby and everything in the snooker room feels moist so thats when I use the glove.
As for the so called 'gay' chalk pouch I use one of those too as it certainly saves the pockets of my good trouser from having a hole worn in them or the seam coming apart at the pocket.

The glove

One of the young players in our club plays with a glove. In fact he won the junior pot black down at Sheffield a couple of years back so cant be bad for your game at least. Looks like he will walk away with the Scottish under 16's this year but all the same he does look daft with the glove but it works for him, so a suppose that's all that counts. Same should go for anyone if it helps, then go for it, regardless what anyone else says? Just my opinion anyway. :snooker:
