I'm not going to just write the same names as everyone else without saying a few things aswell. We all know Hendry and Davis dominated for a decade each and deserve the legendary status they've been awarded. We all know Alex Higgins and Jimmy White were gifted beyond the norm. We all know Mark Williams dominated the game for 2-3 years when Hendry was still a force and Ronnie and John were regular top 4 players. So, having said what needed to be said:

1) Best ever player? - Stephen Hendry (on achievement alone)
2) Most complete game? - John Higgins (brains,talent,knowledge)
3) Best break builder? - Ronnie O'Sullivan (Would have beaten Hendry's centuries record by now if he'd have had the same quantity of competitions Hendry had competed in, and will still beat it eventually imo)
4) Best Safety Game? - Steve Davis (Will Hendry get to a ranking final at 48 years of age and still be in the top 16 at 50?)
5) Best Long Baller potter? - After a mind war between Ding, Robertson and Williams I plump for Mark.
6) Best Talent - Ronnie O'Sullivan (Ambidextrous, century at 10, 147 at 14, sublime control that's never been equalled)
7) Most exciting to watch? - Jimmy White(because he played in an era when you could still entertain and make a living)
8) Best match player? - Mark Williams(At his best he had everything)

Now I know everyone has their own opinion and for some people Terry Griffiths and Cliff Thorburn set their pulses racing, and even Dave Harold's cue action turns somebody on, but no more silly answers please! Hendry has the best safety game? Not even he believes that!

I almost agree with Noel, just about spot on APART from Best Safety Game which I think is John Higgins (at his best) and Best Long Ball Potter which in my opinion was (also at his best) Alex Higgins!! I was lucky enough to live through the Alex Higgins golden years and some of his long pots were almost unbelievable.

I'd have Alex Higgins down as the best "shot player" of all time. I considered Higgins for the long-potting but went for Williams in the end because I think he was a bit more consistent in getting them when he was at his best.
