  • advice on match tickets?

    Hi,

I am wanting to apply for world championship tickets as a present for my boyfriend using the booking form at http://www.worldsnooker.com/site_fil...%20booking.pdf

I am looking for some advice from somebody who has bought tickets this way before. I'm not really a snooker fan and don't know which session(s)/match to choose. It's for a present so I am wondering about what would be most enjoyable for him.

    1) is it possible to book tickets for more than one session of a match, or can you only apply for one session?

    2) which sessions or combinations of sessions are best to go for -- first/second/(third)/final session of a match? a whole day made up of sessions from more than one match? a whole match?

Also does anybody know what the likelihood is of actually getting the tickets you apply for? especially for QFs or semis.

Any advice gratefully received -- thank you very much!

you are more likely toget 1st round tickets i would have thought, and look for the match number of any f his favourite players seeded in the draw, try and get tickets for that day...

it "can" be uncomfy sat there for a full day of snooker in one go, so maybe break it up maybe a morning and an evening session ticket.... (or take one of them chair cushions in with you???)

the form itself is pretty straight forward, just look at the games how many tickets you want per session put them in.... (it runs left to right not in two columns)

Hi, that's really helpful, I didn't connect up the players with the match numbers (d'oh) and good idea to go for the first round and morning/evening session too. Thanks!!

Kellie and Statsy are sitting there the whole tournament!

and you could hang around the stage door in between sessions, last year Ronnie walked past me in a distance of about 50 cm and I met Ali

or you can stay indoors and wander around the place and see other stars in and about or watch ding take the scenic route back to his dressing room through the crowds and all sorts

Mumofone I've just sent off my application form. If your boyfriend is a snooker fan he'll enjoy any of the sessions you book for him. Walking into The Crucible is like walking into Old Trafford if you are a Man U Fan. As mentioned in an earlier post give some thought as to which player(s) your boyfriend likes. Have a look at the application form and you'll see which days they're scheduled to play, assuming they are in the top 16. In between the sessions you can visit "the cue zone" where there's a full size table and the opportunity to participate in some fun competitions.

Does anyone know when you normally get confirmation regarding tickets? I applied by post before 14th January but am still waiting - I've booked hotel and ticket up to sheffield due to the great deal I got - just a bit anxious about them getting back to me!

Squire There's a couple of threads running about tickets. Do a search on Crucible 2010. Apparently the word is that if the money isn't out of your account by now then your application has been unsuccessful. I applied mid December and haven't heard anything! Bit worrying. Can't believe they were sold out. Looks to me like they havn't dealt with some applications.

We also have a hotel booked and train travel (cheap advance fares) to Sheffield. Getting worried I have just phoned the Crucible Box Office to get the latest processing update. They are still dealing with applications received before 14 Jan. Told to keep checking bank account etc. I then asked about the availability for 1st weekend. Several matches are already sold out for Saturday 17th, but there was still some availability for Sunday 18th.
Looks like it might be just an expensive shopping trip to Sheffield. Had to take the risk and book the accommodation, as did not want snooker tickets and end up with nowhere to stay. However, looks like it may be hotel and transport but no snooker.
I understand there is great demand for World Championship tickets, but all this waiting is just not really acceptable. It really is a silly way to allocate tickets.

Move over to thread "Crucible tickets 2010" and you'll get all the "gen". Ditch this thread.

Thats strange. I thought all threads were viewable by all members. Anyway Kev4291 here's what I was told about my tickets and it may help you understand whats going on. The money was charged to my credit card on 7th February. When I phoned the Crucible they said I would have my tickets by 20th Feb.
