How to chalk a cue correctly?

If your not mis-cuing your doing it right....
If its an important shot, make sure to chalk
if your using extreme spin (right at bottom of ball for instance) chalk
general shots plan ball etc just chalk every few shots, every shot, whatever you like...

On a slightly different tangent....other than the correct method of chalking, is one brand of chalk so much different than another? One fella told me that the chalk density, ie. fine or coarse makes a difference. Also, I prefer a lighter green than blue as it leaves a visually cleaner cue ball.

Hi again. Chalking the cue will not affect potting at all. Chalk mearly gives the white ball and the tip grip together. Like a power lifting chalking his hands before lifting a big old heavy bar.
I was always told to use the green triangle chalk I think its called. Thats always been good for me. Blue chalk looks bad on a green cloth.

Like has been said chalking should be a nice thinking gap between shots, I chalk maybe once every 3 shots, not too sure.

I like the look of light blue chalk on the end of my tip, just preference which colour I'm taking it?

now, Rob. what has got a miscue common with chalking the tip? I was under impression a miscue is when your cueing (technically) goes wrong (plus you're hitting cueball too low/high/wrong lol) and the shot you are attempting goes bad? I think I need an explanation there, maybe I am wrong...

If you have no chalk on your tip you will miscue more than if your tip is well chalked......

Fair enough I wish I knew why am I confused lol. Maybe because when I miscue, it's more often a flaw in the execution of shot rather than too little chalk on tip.

It can be poor excecution. If you don't have chalk on the tip though you will miscue even when putting on a touch of side or something simple like that

I doubt I will be chalking this cue anymore... it needs to go in the bin
