  • Anger management

    Hi.
I want to know how you guys cope with the anger and frustration when having a bad day or a bad period...
after missing an easy one, and than a few more.. im starting to get realy frustrated and start to scream at myself and walking around the room looking to kick something. basically going into a "snooker tilt" which is just getting me to play realy bad. and that causes even more frustration..

what do u guys do to avoid this situation?
do u just accept it that ur having a bad day or time and keep on playing as if nothings happening?
maybe packing your stuff and leaving the club??

If your practicing Id suggest taking 20 minutes away from the table before returning when your ready. If in a match I wouldnt ask me as I havent figured the answer out
Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

            Stay calm and concentrated.

Making yourself more angry will just make the situation alot worse, and will loose all your concentration, which leads to missing another shot.

i have been tempted to snap my cue over my knee but have so far managed not to do this....

just have to control your thoughts and take a break get it out of your mind and then start again

Good advice which applies to those who often make far too many multiple posts on almost every thread that pops up, wouldn't you agree?

buy a 500 pound cue and play with it, you will never feel like breaking it even if you cant pot a ball the whole day.

Lol! I love that advice, also a good reason to justify buying expensive cues

I keep a scrap of paper in my pocket. Before the match, I write a few words on it: 'Imagine (the opponent's name here) VERY unhappy at the toilet!'
                          Works wonders!

                            WTF? Pretty wacky Mignon.

I often get the seething snowball of perpetually mounting anger, and most recently in a semi-final.

The only way I could get back from the wilderness was to instead concentrate on a really tricky and peripheral aspect of my cueing.

Worked, but was too little to late.

I've read that it's handy to have a hierarchy of goals so you can switch focus if you are getting too frustrated.

                            Meh.

Well, I need something to make me laugh. The risk is losing focus of course but I don't compete in world ranking finals so feeling Ok is what matters most.
