Hi all,
Thanks to those of you who commented on my cue thread a couple of days ago. Would just like to give a bit of background to myself and get some advice if possible to try and improve my game further.
I used to play quite a lot of snooker with friends but never progressed much, and this turned into playing 'every now and again' when I went to uni 5 years ago which just died out really because no one I met played.
I've just started playing again in the last few weeks, and have played pretty much every day for an hour or so for the past week and a half pretty (either playing frames with a mate, or doing a few lineups). Knocked in a 50 break and a few 40 breaks. I'm in the middle of exams at the moment and snooker makes me feel relaxed which explains all the playing.
Bought a new cue thanks to the advice of some of you on here and can't wait for it to arrive (realised that the tip on my old cue isn't even on properly. I tried putting a new one on after following the excellent 147 guide, but it sort of sits at a slant with a gap inbetween the tip and ferrule on one edge. I think the end of the shaft on the ferrule is damaged).
So basically I just wondered when a good time to get a bit of advice from a coach is generally (I appreciate it will be very different for every player, but just a general rule of thumb maybe?). A few sessions to iron out some kinks and get some advice on things I'm doing wrong.
Or should I pick up a training book/DVD? (can anyone recommend one?).
Thanks!
