  • Problem with my cue...

Hey guys, as some of you may know, i bought a new cue a couple of weeks back, the peradon sapphire, and me and my mates have been noticing, when i hit shots, especially hard shots etc, my cue makes a high pitched noise, like it is breaking or something, its almost like a squeek or its the normal sound of the cue, but just higher in pitch.

Do i just need a new tip? I havent put a new tip on it since i bought it, so the standard factory one is on it at present, but should i put a new tip on? Its a 9mm tip, and going to buy some elkmaster 10mm tips today.

    Thanks
    Chris

Try to change the tip first. very common to loose tip.

        Hi,
I had the same problem and it was the ferrule. Try to unscrew it with your fingers and if you can, than you know it is it and then you must take it out , put some glue and screw it back on.

I also Hope its Just the Tip for you? But sometimes it can be the Joint as I have had a few doing the same in the past.

          You can Check this By.......

HOLD THE BUTT OF THE CUE NEAR THE END......WITH EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT HAND DEPENDS WHAT HAND YOU ARE......TAP THE UPPER PART OF THE SHAFT AGAINST YOUR OTHER HAND........YOU WILL SEE HOW STIFF THE CUE IS DOING THIS ALSO BUT IF ITS THE JOINT YOU SHOULD HEAR THE SAME NOISE!!

If it is still the Same after you Fit a New Tip I would say 99% Sure then its either Joint or Ferrule?....Proberly the Joint.

          Help this Helps m8.

in my experience most times people think thier joint needs fixing it is the ferrule. definitely put a new tip on, check the ferrule is not loose and try the suggestion above.

Can I do something if my cue has a slight bend (curve) in it? Is that a big problem? Is it useless? Should I buy a new cue?
              thanx in advance

Could also be the wood under the ferrule that's broken and split I suggest taking it to a cue doctor, in my area we have bob achers I'm sure there is others about.

Trevor White springs to mind. Look up trevs1 on here. One of the very best!

As you have less than 10 posts I'm not sure if you can use the search box (top right corner). Alternatively click community and go to T...
If you can't do either start posting on a few threads til you get to 10 posts then you're away.

No problem bud. His email is on the forum somewhere as well. When it comes to cues what he don't know can be written on a pin-head.
