league snooker question

hi, i guess most of you play in a league so what would happen if the team you were about to play ring your team and say "we only have 2 players so there is no point coming up you can have the result" we play a 5 man team game and 2 points for aggregate so there is 7 points available any help will do thanks

most important thing to do is dont tell the other half..... Still get together with your mates and have a hit and a couple of beers. after all your still playing snooker right?

Seriously - depends how you want to play it? Do you wish to stick to your league rules, which surely must state that you are entitled to the points at such such notice, but would mean dropping the other team in it and resulting in them getting a fine.
Or do you fake the scorecard and risk being fined yourselves?

There is another way - refuse to claim the game and arrange to play on another evening.

Our league has three teammates playing in each match, two frames each against the same opponent.

The league is decided on frames rather than matches won, and the league rules are clear that if a team has only two available players (or one), they should turn up and play the match, forfeiting the unplayed fixture 2-0 of course.

It is seen as polite to inform the opposing team, if only so that one of their players need not waste a journey.

Our league plays four-man teams, each playing two frames (yes, it can be a long evening in single table clubs!). Since we've been more flexible with playing with less than a full complement, it hasn't been an issue, but we used to have the rule that if a match was forfeited for whatever reason, only five points would be awarded, rather than a full 8. I think that followed some manipulation towards the end of the season, so that teams who knew they couldn't win could give maximum points to a team that could.

in our league we have the following rules if your short a player you get fined £5 for each player short.if your cancelling a match you have to give notice or the other team is awarded full points.

this as happened to me a few times over the past 13 years playing in our league. last year we turned up to a club and they had forgot there was a match that night and we where awarded the 6 points. then only the other week the captain of another team rang me up to cancel due to work being done in the club. we rearranged the match for tommorow night he gave us a good 2 weeks notice so i didnt mind.

something like this also happened last monday in the 3 man team semis we turned up at 8pm with a full team the guys who we were playing only had 2 there but said the others where on there way. we played the 1st 2 frames had a short break and the secretary of the league said they had till the 3rd match started to get the other player there he didnt show and we where awarded the match. the stupid thing was though the captain of the other team knew all night that the other 2 players werent showing up but just sat there a said nothing during the match i asked if they where coming he said yes. but after the match he addmited he knew they where not coming.i said to him if you had said at the begining you didnt have enought players he should have said and we would have played another night. he then tried to take me up on my offer at 10.30pm to which i said sod off we have sat here all night tough luck but if you had said before no problem.
