Does anyone know if the British open will ever come back? I went to see it at Brighton in 2003 and 2004 and had great time, Did anyone else go to the British open at Brighton?

I didn't, hopefully it will come back, it was a good tournament.

I've been to see the Welsh Open Final in 2005, was a cracking match.

lol i bet it was. Sadly i couldn't watch it but i did look at teletext for most of the night to see the scores.
The British open is the only tournament i have been to, so to me it's my fave tournament.

Anyway, when you say you wish it would come back, do you mean it was scrapped in favour of another tournament or it isn't just happening this year?

I think it's been srapped, it wasn't on last year and again this year it hasn't been included. Does anyone know where the Master will be held this year?

I heard a rumor that it could be held at The Brighton Centre, if so that would make me a very happy man.

I'm guessing you live close to Brighton or in Brighton then, lol

Anyway, I don't see any reason for it to be scrapped, I mean if the players were enjoying it, the venue was decent and ticket sales weren't below and standards they set, I don't see a reason why it should be discontinued.

I went to the both semi-finals for both years and they were both sold out. It's sad that they have dropped it. I live close to Brighton

Any idea why they did drop it?

It was dropped because Sky decided not to cover any world ranking snooker and with no sponsorship either there was no furure for it but it is one of the oldest events on the calendar having evolved from the British Gold Cup via the Yamaha Masters.

I think it is unlikely to be back in the short term and I thing that any new/extra ranking events are more likely to be held overseas.

As for the Masters it will be a pity if they can't find a venue in London as it was the capital's only snooker event and as such attracted huge audiences.

I have no idea, i guess Walker thought it was a waste of money.

It was probably dropped due to no money available for it, and The Masters will be at Wembley Arena apparently
                          1994 a good year
                          The Masters a great event
                          The Final a marvellous match
                          The Winner a snooker genius
                          Alan McManus The Winner
                          Stephen Hendry The Loser

                          1994 a good year....

Wembley Conference Centre has or is being torn down. Wembley Arena is close by.
