  • Decent break is not enough...

What was your highest break in a frame but you still lost it?
    Mine is 48.

i think i scored a 30plus break but lost... broke my heart... i used to only pick off maybe 2 or on a fine day, 3 colours in a good single visit... pretty mediocre stuff.

but glad to say that i've been improving recently and now quite confident of scoring a 30plus break when in good position amongst the reds... so give me 2good chances and the frame's mine...... on a fine day, that is...

I have had a 60 break and lost the frame. That was my highest break at the time, so rather gutting aswell.

quite a rare occurence to lose from there... did your opponent have a 70 break? or did he make his comeback in bits and pieces? i can live with it better if my opponent did a better break than mine and won... if it's the latter... grrrr...

Yeah, he came back at me in pieces, I had loads of chances to take the match, but I still got beat. I was only 10 at the time though.

i had a 49 last night and lost, thats my highest in a frame of losing, but i have had a few breaks in the 30's and still lost, its not uncommon, i played my friend earlier today and had a 32, he then had an 88 break and missed a routine yellow yet landed perfect on a green and could of quite easily had his highest break (115 available total) against me...

cant really grumble the break was second to none i wobbled an easy red after red blacks and subsequently lost hte frame..
what a frustrating, yet addictive game this is....

I've had a 69 and lost the frame, and a 61 and lost, both in the same session! I've won a frame when my opponent had a 72, and what's more I'd won when I potted the pink, I didn't even need the black!

You're not playing with the miss rule, are you?

This reminds me of the 2006 Masters final frame decider when Ronnie made a 60 break and then Higgins responded with a 64 to clinch the tittle.
Ronnie looked tense while sitting on the chair after he broke down at 60,He knew deep down that he won't get a second chance. This is snooker at its highest level.

When I play very good players then yes, of course I play the miss rule. If the players aren't so hot then I tend not to, but do encourage them to try as it only helps them in the long run.

The two sixties were against a pro, many of you won't know, but some may remember - Matt Bailey.
The 72 was was made against me by Steve Crowley, who just won the Kent Open beating a field which included Barry Hawkins, Stuart Bingham, and Gerrard Greene. We were playing the miss rule, and Steve had started with 9 blacks.

76 in a handicap tournament a few years back. Was giving the other guy 90 odd but he fluked a few reds at the start and basically lost it on the pink and black. Still I'm not bitter about it!!!
