Nice post Roy, I suppose in the grand scheme of things human life (or life on the planet) is in the modern era.
For me it starts post Pullman, then there are those who say post Crucible, I recently heard Hendry described as the first great champion of the modern era.
I think the ridiculous obsession with century breaks is slowly but surely making the modern era more and more recent in many peoples eyes.
Although of course, Peall was very much an innovator.
