  • What is your average shot time?

Just before you actually bend down for the shot, what is your average shot time?

I just realised my average shot time is about 4 seconds, from initial thinking, alignment, and just before bedning down. rather too fast. whats yours?

I would say, most amateurs, are way too fast and rush with their shot

probably about 10-15 seconds, but im really inconsistent so sometimes i'll take ages and others i'll get straight down and play the shot (usually f*cking it up)

Holy crap!!! You guys are amazing. I have no idea how much time I take when standing behind the shot as I've never timed it and never even thought about it really as it changes so much from shot to shot.

When I feel I have the potting angle worked out (very quick) and then when I feel I have a feel for the correct height and power I'm going to hit the cueball to get my desired position then I get down, but I have no timeframe in mind.

Sometimes it's a little difficult to work out the power/height and that's when I revert to the positional estimating using the 'perfect stun' positional method to determine the height and power.

If you want to know more regarding the 'perfect stun angle' method of determining positional height and power, it is on Nic Barrow's new training book 'HTMA100' and it might be on thesnookergym.com website, but I'm not too sure since I've had the training and don't refer to the website too much when I'm teaching or coaching

About 3/4 seconds on most standard shots and never more than 10 seconds on a tricky shot. Othwerwise the inevitable 'What are you playing for, the town hall?' comment is muttered across the room from my playing partner.
Mind you I am just that good I read the game so quickly

depends whose paying for the lights but ime probably far too quick, maybe 3 to 4 seconds. watching Robbo this year taking 5 minutes or whatever it was i was screaming at the telly, wasnt even a difficult safety to play

Unfortunately this is the reason for playing fast, for a lot of players.

even for Ronnie when he is on TV, the TV screen will shows average shot time for the 2 players, one example is Ronnie against Ding, both shot time is around 20 seconds, which is amazingly slow but we still think he is a quick player.

i hate it when my opponent takes years to cue up as though he is a great player and then misses a sitter.really frustrates me.

I've never timed myself I just take as long as I need it all depends if I'm in the zone or not...

If I'm in the zone and in the balls I probably take around 7 seconds a shot if I'm working out how to get in the balls I'm around 15-20 seconds a shot unless there are easy reds around the blue then I chooseto take them and again am around 7-10 seconds a shot but I don't know for certain As have never timed or thought Bout it
what a frustrating, yet addictive game this is....
