I have looked through my collection of books and Snooker Scene of February 1975 but cannot find any information on this referee. Going by his accent he is Welsh.
I don't know whether he is still active on the refereeing side but the last time I saw him was when he, Eirian Williams and another Examiner were examining Paul Collier to be upgraded.
I had the deciding frame on video and I well remember the way the referee had to shout the scores at the top of his voice as he they didn't have mic's like they do now.
It'd go like,
"FOWELLL!!!" "FOUR TO JOHN SPENCAAAAAR!!!"
Then you'd hear another voice in the background relay the call to the scorer "Foul, 4 to Spencer"
Yes, Gus Lilygreen also used to do the Langs Supreme in Glasgow in the early eighties along with John Williams and was a regular member of the squad of referees on the Pontins circuit in the eighties aswell.
I think I have got a DVD of the match somewhere and the referee who springs to mind who called out the scores like that was Jim Thorpe I think. That may not be the referee we are trying to identify as I'll have to find the DVD to find out exactly who it is but Jim Thorpe springs to mind.

Without looking at it, I dont think it was Jim Thorpe, though I stand to be corrected. I know Thorpe's voice pretty well and I'm sure it wasn't him.
I think the ref, if it was Gus Lilygreen, was a more thicker set guy than Jim Thorpe.
