  • Flooring doubt.

    Hi, ssup people.....

I am this guy living in the southern tip of India. I am starting a snooker club here and probably its gonna come up in a few months. I have everything planned, except one thing. I am confused what kind of floor to use. If i use tiles, or marble its going to slip right? If i use carpets, it wont slip, but its going to get dirty real fast especially in the rainy days when people get inside with there muddy shoes. So, just lemme know what kinda floors you guys normally use, for good grip, looks and other stuff at the snooker house.

    Thanks in advance.

Office carpet is thin, hard wearing and easy to clean.
    Over here it's called 'cord'.
If you use tiles, marble, concrete or any other hard surface, then the balls will get damaged when they come off the tables.

I believe most of the clubs have very hard wearing carpet in them however in both Canada and UK most of the streets are paved and mud is not a really big problem, or at least not as big as you might have if a lot of your streets are unpaved.

If mud is going to be a big problem I would suggest not putting down carpet as you will have to clean it a lot and eventually it expands and develops wrinkles and looks really bad.

How about either faux marble, but not smooth and shiny, so your players can get a grip and it would be easy to clean and very long lasting and keep its looks for awhile. Also, steam cleaning would not be a problem with this type of floor. I believe nowadays they pour these faux marble floors using some kind of resin, but I'm no flooring expert.

The other option could be poured concrete but with a rougher surface than is normal. I don't know how that is done though.

I have a table in my basement with a smooth concrete (poured) floor and I wear trainers when I practice, however with leather soled shoes I do notice I can slip every once in a while and sometimes that may be a problem with a male leaning over the table as a couple of spheres might get crushed by accident and I know that smarts very much.

you could used like a rubberized vynil...

a lot of dental surgeries that i fit use this, its really grippy, easy to clean, doesnt look bad at all, and is soft so if the balls hit the deck they wont get damaged...
what a frustrating, yet addictive game this is....
