  • Casual play

As would be the case with others, my ideal mode of practice/play is either by myself with my cue at my club on tables I am familiar with or without my regular playing partner. But what do you guys do when out at a bar or a friend's place or something?

I'm talking cue selection (obviously don't pick a warped one), how serious do you take the game? Do you avoid playing certain games (I know some pool players avoid snooker and vice versa), Enforce proper rules? Play snookers and safeties on your opponent or "be a sport" and go for silly shots? Do you stay in good practice even under casual circumstances so as not to eradicate good techniques and habits developed under what I'll call a "proper" situation (for lack of a better term)

I think it all depends how serious you are about the game and how much you want to improve and try and play to your full potential .

You will very rare see a good amateur or pro playing loose shots , smacking the balls or messing around even when practicing on their own .

Each shot should be one to learn from whether you hit it correct or not .

'afraid I'm a bit of an old fuddy-duddy. Like to take things serious. Don't like larking about on the snooker table. Trouble is I think when the "will to win" is too great it can affect how you play and you get too tense resulting in everything going tits-up. Getting the balance right is the way to go I guess.
