  • How many backspin rotations when playing a deep scew shot

Watched Mark Williams play a great deep screw shot against Shaun Murphy in The Uk.
Made me wonder how much backspin rotation per second can be achieved when playing a deep screw.

Suppose you'd need a slow motion camera and a training ball to be able to count.

Anyone have any idea as to what the amount of backspin is generated?

how hard do you want to hit it, its gotta depend on the baize quality and a clean cue ball, and cueing angle,

      Good reply, Jimmy.

Didn't think they would make a difference, lets say about the same conditions that you can play a deep screw where you play.

      Now have you any idea?

There are some excellent High Speed Videos here:

It's pool, not snooker, so conditions/balls/etc vary. But it does give you an idea how much rotation is put on the ball.
