I've just be looking back on my videos of me and del at the farm. I'm amazed at how much info that he got across in two hours. I think that I only took in about 40% of what he was telling me. I going down the club soon and will brush up a little. I known this is a little off topic, I just want to get across the importance of having a coach and if you can't afford regular coaching make sure that you video your session as you'll be lucky if you can absorb all that's being said as well as trying to put the instruction in to pratice.
    Heres the link enjoy

Just want to add that a good coach will bring you to the best level that your capable of and no more and a bad coach will do nothing for you what so ever apart from take your money.

hi mrkstnly9, 27 break in 6 months is not too bad... keep it up!! at that rate, you'll be hitting 40s in another 6 months...

as you are only beginning to play this game, i feel that this is the best time to build a solid technique... i'm sure that some of us here have been playing for years and developed some bad habits which we find ever so difficult to correct... e.g. tight grip, head/body movement, alignment issues etc... they've become so ingrained into our game.

try to develop a practice routine that incorporates a variety of shots, e.g. long straight pots, line ups, around black spot, colour clearances... as the old adage goes, practice makes perfect... well, not really perfect... but think of it this way, shots that you don't get in practice situation, can you realistically expect to pull them off during matchplay? also, be aware of the shots which you normally fail and try to understand what went wrong, i.e. learn to self-coach.

      good luck!! :snooker:

          Good Day,
I agree that practice does not make perfect but will improve your game.
The first tip I got from a good player was to practice making the black off of its spot, its great because you can see your improvement this teaches you concentration on making the shot keeping in mind that you have another objective (playing shape) if you practice this for 1/2 hour a day you will be potting the black off the spot like crazy. Let me know what your record is.

I try hard, play hard and dont always succeed, at first.!!!!:snooker:

                Hello Hotpot,

87 consecutive blacks off the spot is excellent. I have not done this in a while but I think that this is close to what I achieved.

                Cheers,

I think he was meaning a Trion z band. They are said to help concentration and performance by stopping harmful effects of mobile phone radiation and other types of interference. A lot of the top golfers wear them. A few snooker players also wear them.

                            Good point

Admist the good advice above I also would recommend a coach to get your basics reviewed and your practise thus on the right track. Meanwhile keep the things simple. Practise straight shots with and without an object ball. Use a mirror or a cam to study your technique. Consequtive Blacks (or other colours for that matter) off the spot are also usefull to improve your aiming/positional play. Line up may be fun, but what's the point if you have to start all over again after just few balls.
Ten reds and not a colour...
