  • Playing snooker with my poolcue

    Hi there,

yesterday i forgot my snookercue and was giving it a try with my Poolcue.
And strangly my play did improve with this cue. Much more balls went in the pocket, and also my breaklevel did improve.
Any suggestions? or is it just my imagination.
My normal snookercue is 1/2 and a tip of 9 mm.

Probably it was better suited to you than your snooker cue . Was it a bigger tip by any chance .

Yes it's a bigger tip. But i'm playing with my snookercue for almost 2 years now, (so i must be used to it) but never as good as yesterday..
Strange for me because i don't see anybody using a poolcue with snooker.

Probably because with a bigger tip you dont put on as much unintentional side .

Try something like a 9.7 mm snooker cue , It may surprise you , especially if you get a nice one .

          Allright thanks!
I got the feeling i shot very much more precisely than i used to do.
It maybe has to do with the tip indeed.
And also my snookercue is not dead straight.
And how about the difference between ash and maple? is it of any influence with playing en cueing?

No i dont think there is much difference playing wise although on the whole i think ash tends to be a bit stiffer .

Some like ash becuase of the feel of the wood and some like to use the arrows as a guide when striking the white . While others prefer maple , it,s just down to the individual really .

I prefer ash myself and i think it,s more popular .
