  • Cleaning the Snooker

I heard Dennis Taylor say in commentary on the Mark Selby V Mark King match, that players are now not allowed to request for the White ball to be cleaned or they will be fined £250 Pound, does this mean that players may not request other snooker balls on the table to be cleaned, if they get a kick, can someone explain if the rule is true, and when and why was it brought in. Or does anyone have a link to this Rule.

I also read in my latest edition of Snooker Scence (January 2011, page 31) that players who enter tornaments and do not play or do not play to thier best in tornaments and also players who turn up with minutes to spare before match play will all be disalined or fined following a lot of the incidents at several PTC tornaments.

I think this means they cannot the white personally, say if their oponnent went in-off and they had cue ball in hand. They can still ask the referee to clean the white.
