  • Question

So I have a question, lets say the player 1 is trying to pot a red or whatever but the cue ball goes in pocket and fouls so player 2 gets ball in hand and can put it anywhere in the D, so lets say there is a red behind the d can player 2 pot that ball legally or would it be a foul?

Heres a pic I added to clear things up.

Yes totally OK to play "up" the table
Maybe you are getting confused with one of the pool rules where you could only play down the table (if that rule even still exists lol)

i think the pool rule was you couldnt play behind the balk line as a back cut is still playing down the table

Thanks for the replys guys and yes when I learned how to play pool I learned that you cant shoot the ball backwards if you had ball in hand so thats why I asked because I did not know if snooker had a rule like that.

What a great way to ask a question! Everyone should use that snooker table graphic, can you post a link to it?
Oh, and that's a bad miss.

It is perfectly legal in snooker. However, in billiards, you must play down (i.e. towards the black spot) the table.
