Shender cue

hi,
I bought a Shender cue 2 years ago and can't remember how much i paid for it, it's been a lovely cue and is straight as a dye, just upgraded to a heavier longer cue and want to sell it on at my local club, can't find any information on them and am not sure how much i should ask for it, it was definitely top of there range and is still in mint condition with long and short extension plus case.

Any advice please?

dont hold me to it but i think they were made in bulk in china, ebay was flooded with them a couple of years back, and then nothing, i'm sure i read somewhere they changed their name to either woods cues or robin scott?

as for sell on value, it really depends on what the cues means to you, my cue is worth about £1.75, but to me it's priceless (well until i snapped 2 inches off the shaft breaking in pool)

Shender are a Chinese table manufacturer, as far as I know they do not make cues, but they probably sell cues that are made by others, so no idea about the quality. Depends who made them I suppose.............

The quality is top notch, my Dad had a Martin Chesworth cue that looked identical, and that warped within a few months, super smooth oiled shaft ,just a little on the light side, probably about 16oz, but nicely balanced at about 16 inches.
I would love to keep it but I know I'll keep going back to it and never get used to my new cue, but if it's only worth £20 I might be tempted to stick it in the loft in case this new cue doesn't settle down, am finding the jump from 16oz to 20oz a lot to take in, but am loving the new challenge, and at least I have a new excuse for the white running away!

I'd love someone to do a blind test, and see how many people could really tell the difference between a £50 cue and a £500 cue, when you take away the psychological advantage of knowing your playing with quality.?

i have no trouble at all seeing quality.

HI it does not mean that you will play better with a 500 gbp cue then a 50 gbp cue. Look at Stephen Hendry he made millions with a cue worth gbp 40 cheers Leonard from Canada

True, I was only talking about quality of the cue, i.e. wood, craftsmanship, finish...
Give me a 50 GBP cue and a plain ebony cue from Mike Wooldridge, or Trevor White (not even 500 GBP) or a H&O--with no SD joint, no badge, no marking whatsoever--I am sure I can tell you which one is the 50 GBP cue.
I would also like to add that if a cue is only worth 50 GBP new and may be next to nothing used, it is not because people are just snobbish. All the big names were once a no name. If this Sender cue is really that good (equals to the quality of a 500 GBP cue as claimed) and are so cheap to buy, they should be very much in demand right now, and their re-sale value should be very good.
I am also sure if they can sell their cues at 500 GBP they would.
Playability is subjective. In my opinion, a cue you prefer to use is not nesessary the cue with better quality; it is just a cue which is more suitable for you.

HI pOOLQJUNKIE I agree with you 100 per cent you are paying for the name maker Trever White John Parris Cues. Just like your cues which are one of a kind and also playability craftmanship etc cheers Leonard from Canada

Hi,
And I agree with you too that a cue does not have to be expensive to play well. Some pros are known to play with cues that are not "famous" and some even play with rack cues.
