We have been running a handicap tournament for a few months now and it’s got the point where we had to get some rules down in writing (had a few problems) we still have a problem when we have more than two players tied at the end of the round robin section and we can’t get a winner due to them having beating each other. Time is the major issue for us so we cant ask them to play each other again or even play 6 reds. add into the equation the different standards of players and it turning into a real pain in the arse to sort out.
Tonight we had this very situation where we had three players tied and we had no clear winner, with them beating each other. They ended up playing the cue ball up and down the table at the same time. not good as far as I’m concerned I felt they should take turns but as one of the players fairly pointed out it gives an advantage to the player who goes last (knowing you only have to be inside the other players)
Does anyone have any other ideas as how we can get a winner out of a situation like this? Keeping in mind that this is a handicap tournament so were trying to make it fair to all levels of players and also having to get a winner as quickly as possible.
