  • Professionals Practice Routine

Do you know what practice routine your favourite player does to keep their standard high?

How many hours do they practice a day and how many centuries do they aim to make on the practice table a day?

Routine:- Usually frames and not a particular routine of shots

Hours:- Recently about 4 per day, almost every day (used to be a few hours more per day)

Centuries:- As many as he can

i know a bloke who plays in swansea, he used to go into the snooker club at 9am, play in his own until 4pm, then from 4pm until 6pm he would play someone, and he would do this everyday. And he only lasted as a professional one or two seasons. Just goes to show all the practice in the world, you will never truelly master the game.

Alot of players recommended doing a line up however this will only developt you pre shot routine in my opinion, it does little to help you build your in game break building up when the balls are not all in the open, in a straight line. The best practice routine i believe to develop your break building is to group 5-6 balls together below the black in a cluster, then place one red either side of the black in the open and not blocking the black from going in the pockets. The object is to pot the two open reds and still get the angle on the black to break into the cluster so you can continue your break. This mimicks the type of situations you will get in games. To make it harder, just play with the the reds and just the blue and the black, this gives you a smaller margain of error with your positioning. It is practicing these type of routines that will speed up any players development
