  • Whats you're game plan

Hey im new to the forums i was just wondering if anyone would share there game plan or tactics for a match.
Mine personaly is to play safe intill your opponent lets you in aslong you dont let him in first but I get carried away at times and go for supid long pots.

    But what is yours?

Hi, welcome to the Forum To be honest it depends who I am playing (although it shouldn't lol) if I'm playing a non-league match then like you I go for the long pots but when playing more serious opponents I like you again I play safe until they slip up sometimes a good shot to nothing helps me out as well :snooker: You'll have fun searching the forum

To win. Plain and simple. I have confidence in my ability. If I know they are very good potters, I'll play safe and play a lot of hit and run snooker. If I feel I am a better potter/break builder than them, I might try to just out gun them from the get go. The best thing to do is play YOUR game, and don't be afraid to scrap the gameplan during if it isn't working. I've played people who I should out pot every day of the week, but on the night it isn't happening, so I resort to a very good negative safety game I have to shut them out and frustrate them to get them going for silly shots, and picking them off after.
The best advice I've ever been given "you'll win more frames with your head than your cue". Sounds silly, but really is the case!

If you want to play the pink, but you're hampered by the red, you could always try to play the brown!

I would say play within your ability and guard against "I'm better than you so therefore will win" mentality. I would back a lesser player who knows his own capabilities against a better player taking on shots they would normally refuse against a better apponent. Missing shots regardless how hard can effect confidence. I know a few players who maybe are not capable of big breaks (and know it) who are happy to take 16 and run away, yes 16 should not hurt too much but if they do this 3 times then a completely different story. Play your own game and never take anyone for granted, also play your way into a match.

Hey there. The number 1 is to play this great game with a smile on your face. Just enjoy it and try till the games over 100%
Always play snooker with a smile on your face...You never know when you'll pot your last ball.

Exactly. Give each player you go up against equal respect, whether you know them or not. They could be a local champion from the opposite end of the country for all you know, so play the game your way. Also, as RocketRoy1983 says, above all else, enjoy the game.

I think game-plans are subject to change at any moment and therefore become redundant. You should choose the best available option at any time and then play that shot to the best of your ability.
