  • Snooker room

I am now arranging more detailed plans for my room. I shall be putting in a suspended ceiling as the place is currently a barn. Does anybody have any idea on proportions- how low can I put the ceiling without making it feel as if we are playing in an air raid shelter?

    Do you want it low?

We have a snooker club here with 10ft ceilings and it does feel a bit like an air raid shelter. I would suggest 12ft ceiling as a better option as if you go higher the room may be difficult and expensive to heat in the winter

I put a suspended ceiling in my double garage for my 9ft table and it is 2.45 metres in height and feels comfortable. The garage internal size is 4.8M x 4.8M

Thanks for that. The place is currently the same height inside as the house- i.e. 2 storeys plus a pitched roof. Another thought I had was to put in a sort of a gallery and have fans to push the warm air back down again. They might also help keep it cooler in the winter. Anybody with any specialist knowledge please feel free to PM me!
