it depends on your age and how far you want to go if its just playing in your local leagues stick with what works for you

proberbly at your age and your intentions try altering a bit at a time until you get accustomed and work your way to a straight up arm and wrist as such

At 15 you should be able to straighten it with some coaching and practice. Does it actually feel uncomfortable in that it physically hurts or is it just strange because you are not used to it. If its the second one then you will soon get used to it. Hope that helps.

I believe that would be Joe Swail... his wrist is twisted way out... but it works for him.

If i'm reading it right here and it's the wrist 'cock' your on about?..

Ppl seem confused and advising on straightening the elbow, elbow wasn't mentioned guy's unless i'm missing something??

Anyway, i digress... to the OP Stick to the 'twist' in the wrist...

Somebody has obviously told you have to hold wrist straight eh?

Stick to what feels comfortable is the main thing..

A straight wrist will make you twist the cue on delivery, holding as you normally do (with a twist as you say)will allow you to deliver the cue straighter without turning/twisting the cue on delivery.. which in the long run is better for your game IMO...

So the moral of the story, stick to your 'old' way...(if indeed it was the wrist 'cock' you was asking about)

                    If not apologies in advance...

Swail has a real sidewinder type stroke, like 3 cushion players. He uses not only a cocked wrist but elbow as well.

I assume Snooker2011 is talking about a cocked wrist only.

Steve Davis in his prime used to play like this because he said it helped eliminate unwanted twisting during the stroke. He talked about it in his book.

I'm no Coach and I'm suprised Terry hasn't been on to give the expert's view.

I would say don't worry about the wrist position too much if it works. I think if you try to run the white up and down the spots you'll soon realise that it doesn't work. I'd imagine you'll be imparting unwanted side on the follow through pretty much every shot.
