Thats a good question, i think it's fine to pot the pink using the black, as for both going in i'll have to guess at 12 points scored and black comes back on table ???

Ifred is the ball on, and you're snookered and awarded a free ball and take a colour as a red.... then if you pot both the free ball and a red or reds, then one poiint is scored for each ball potted. However, if you pot both free ball and a colour (provided the nominated free ball was the first ball struck by the cue ball) then only the value of the ball on would be scored.

In the OP scenario, then provided the black was struck first then it is a fair shot to canon the pink to pot it, thus scoring 6 points. If the black was also to be potted in the same stroke, then still only 6 points would be scored. The pink would stay down but the black would be spotted (provided the difference in scores wasn't more than seven ponts, in which case the frame would be over).

Thank fellas for that it can all get pretty tricky when something like this happens.

Is it legal to nominate a ball, hit it and use that ball to snooker one of (say) the two remaining reds and also at the same time use the cushion to snooker the other remaining red (i.e. white ball is 'cornered')?
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
          I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)
