How does your league work? What other competitions outside of the league itself are run?
My league includes the following:
3/4 divisions; each team plays each other twice, once home and once away. Three players required for each fixture, each playing 2 frames against the same opponent. 1 point per frame won. (we had 5 divisions in 1979-80, 1980-81 and 1985-86).
Our snooker league was first played in the season 1927-28 while the billiards league started in 1907-08 and fizzled out in 1969-70 save a brief revival in the mid-80s.
We also hold:
Snooker Individual and Billiards Individual knockouts, best-of-3 with best -of-7 final, which were first played in the season 1934-35;
Team Knockout, with automatic entry, handicapped, six frames as per usual league match but aggregate scores decide, first played in 1965-66.
Junior Individual (under 21), started in 1971-72. (entries go into the main Individual if insufficient entries)
Pairs Knockout, first played in 1973-74
A one-evening one-frame knockout for players in division 2 teams and below, in memory of a longstanding lower league player. First played in 1982-83.
Similar for the top division (also open to lower) since 1990-91.
Veterans' (over 40) first played in 1993-94.
Plate comp open to losers of their first match in all these events since 2000-01.
