It was suggested that left handers would have less of a life expectancy than righties. But I think this was largely based on rubbish. Keeping in mind that through the 18th and 19th century you were basically an outcast for being left handed. That is unless you can get a nun to beat the bejesus out of you till you can write with your right lol. You've also got to think about the fact that it's an average too, it's not that lefties were supposed to die naturally younger, they (we) were supposed to be more likely to die in an accident because we're clumsy oafs. Certain research also found that the percentage of young people that are left handed compared to the percentage of old people suggested that the lefties died young, but this was more likely because people were forced to learn to be right handed.

I have heard left handers have more problem learning how to write well in kindergarden because they cannot see what they have written since the previous letter is blocked by their hands as they write, so they usually have more problem writting in a tidy and neat manner...is that true?
Going back to the topic, as I gave it more thought, I honestly cannot remember meeting a left handed players who plays really bad...(well, excpet one old man but he never tried to learn the game I think.) Does this mean anything? I dont know.Last edited by poolqjunkie; 10 March 2008, 11:21 PM.

The reason I'm asking is that I've heard rumours say that lefthanded people in general are more gifted than righthanded? Anyone heard about this?

I think the real difference would could in driving and that sort of thing when you have to think fast and react fast with your hands. Jimi Hendrix amazing abilities with a guitar have been used as an example too. Computer games are another one, if you're into that sorta thing.Alex Higgins "If I knew you were comin I'd have baked a cake, baked a cake, baked a cake"

From this table its eaiser to see how you would label a person better left or right brained, logical or creative.
But we don't function like this, if we did, we would be confused all the time,
For example, if i said 'you can't be serious?'
If you only used your left hemisphere of your brain, you might assume from that from now on i expected you to be amusing, however by incoporating both hemispheres, bit of the right, you realise that i was simply expressing my surprise.
Great thinkers like darwin and einstein uses both hemisphere
you expect
1. Visual Analysis
2. Imaginative Speech
3. Spatial Logic
4. Colourful writing
I think snooker players use both hemispheres, and since ronnie uses both hands, he definatly uses both hemispheres, you could relate that he has great visual analysis, from his 1997 147 fastest break, or maybe someone has good spatial logic.

Keep in mind that there's players out there that practice and practice with their weaker hand till they can play with it, this doesn't mean anything apart from they have no kids or wives taking up all their time, not that they are genius's.
