  • Lefthanded people better players than righthanded?

How many players on the Main Tour are lefthanded? Going by the general British male population about 11 % are which means 8-9 of the pros (+ 2 for margin)

The reason I'm asking is that I've heard rumours say that lefthanded people in general are more gifted than righthanded? Anyone heard about this?

Not sure if it's clearly so. I've heard that for lefthanders the brain centres that are involved in thinking processes are developed more than for right handers (oh my, I can't say that in better English!).
And what about those who are ambidextrous?

In general, most ambidextrous people are very smart because both sides of the brain are used frequently. As with single handed people, I've heard that left handers have better creativity, whereas right handers are good at logical thinking.

I dont know if theres been any scientific studies done on this - could be a good one for a students disertation.

But my maths teacher used to say to the lefthanded kids that left handed people are very clever. Some of them were indeed very clever, and they used to say "are you left handed then Sir"

what does that make me - im right handed generally but play left handed - god, if left handed players were so much better, i must have mitched school when they were giving snooker lessons

I would say left handed players are any better, just look at the world circuit - to my knowledge mark williams is the only left hander to win the world (may be wrong) it is hard to make that statement considering the majority of players are right handed - but to look at it another way - all the snooker players ever1 looks at as very good players are mainly right handed

All right handers are caggy handed.... FACT

Dont ask me where i got the info from it was donkeys years ago but it was from some medical / university study / scientific paper or simlar that stated 90% of all babies are naturally born left handed. The majority grow to become right handed because of the teachings of their elders.

btw If anyone has ever seen a left handed keyboard for sale lemme know please it's probably the only "tool" that i as a lefty would be more accurate quicker and comfortable with even though i've used the right handed layout for years.

What do you mean, a left handed keyboard? The numeric keypad and arrows and such on the left?

Yeah - I'm interested to see this left handed keyboard.

Mind you, I'm so used to a 'right handed keyboard' (if thats what it is!) that I probably wouldnt get on with it

It's true even cases are right handed. Just realised the catch on mine opens to the right and the moulding for the shaft inside is all caggy handed.
