  • Best live stream site?

What is the best live stream site outside of UK?
For tournies such as the World Championship happening now!

  • #2
    Check out www.worldsnooker.livesport.tv.
For a small monthly fee, it's a top quality stream.
However, I found it uses ALOT of bandwith, which is no good if you have restrictive data caps.
Sadly they don't offer the option to download matches at a later date. I've no idea why - snooker matches can be so long and if you live somewhere were the time zone means the games are on at unsociable hours, it would be far more practical to have a download option (in HD would be awesome).
It's also not available in all countries for every tournament.
Otherwise, you could always try vipbox.tv or mypremium.tv. Lower quality streams and not such a bandwith hog. They are fairly reliable. Combine with Jaksta Streaming Media Recorder and you can save the streams for watching later

      www.hahasport.com

Brilliant for all sports. Covers everything. Have to go to the 'other sports' tab for snooker.

Does anyone know a stream you can get on an IPad or an app you can get? I'm in Canada so lots of the European feeds don't work. I got a feed once on my IPad and it was great. Can anyone help?

The problem with Ipad is browser support for flash, usually. I tried viewing www.sportlemon.tv on the safari browser, no luck. I tried a free trial of one of the paid-for browsers and it was unwatchably slow.. I didn't shell any ££ out for the other 2 paid-for ones, as I doubted I'd get any better performance.

I also tried XBOX 360, but of course it has no basic browser built in.

The I tried the Wii and that suffers from being stuck on Flash 7, so no luck there either.

As it turned out I got the best results using my HTC desire phone, with the built in browser!

              Sad but true.

That's why I went for the Samsung Galaxy Tab, flash works great on it via wi-fi, so now I can watch snooker all round the house, even in the bath!.

I don't think BBC let any countries outside of UK to stream.

That just reminded me, I would like to have a collection of snooker matches downloaded, because youtube is never complete and other things, are there actually places to download snooker matches?

I'll pm you with the answer to that one. Otherwise Google is your friend. There's a 'torrent' of information out there

Interestingly, I emailed Livesport and asked them whether they intend to put download links to full matches to watch at a later date. They said they had no plans to.
Shame that. I'll probably end my subscription after the month ends then because there's no legitimate way to 'catch up' with all the matches from tournaments. Watching live sport from NZ equals too many late nights!

Not to my knowledge, and this is another place where the industry is still stuck in the dark ages. We finally have some sort of live streaming over the internet, but we still need on-demand (podcast like) delivery of things like this.

I think a large number of people would be perfectly happy to pay a small fee per download - the itunes model, vs having to subscribe to a site - the classic tv model. The former model is vastly superior for consumers, and I suspect in the long run it's actually superior from a business/income perspective but it's a big change in billing structures etc and companies are slow to adopt thinking and practices.
