  • Unscrewed cue in frame

If in the time of frame I unscrew a cue do I have to concede a frame?
Example: I have 10 point lead on the table 13, I try to make safety but hang a pink near to pot then I unscrwed my cue and opponent refuses to make a shot and Saying that I have to concede a frame.

In pool I have heard this many times, i.e. you have unscrewed your cue - you concede the game, but never heard it in snooker parlance.
In both games I have not come across any official rule that states this is a concession indication.
If I remember correctly, this even happened in a televised match, where the striker was completing a high break and the opponent unscrewed his 2pc (that's how long ago it was) while sitting waiting for the end. The striker did not stand up and not complete his break/turn at the table because of the unscrewing of the cue.

I don't think this means that you have conceded, but am a bit unsure of why you would do this apart from trying to put you opponent off, I don't think I would have been happy if someone had done the same to me.

Why did you unscrew your cue?

If it is as mentioned previously to show your opponent that you know you've lost as he'll definitely clear up then you should lose the frame.

It's not in the rules. But it should be.

            Unscrewed cue in frame

In blackball pool, there is a rule about this being loss of frame.

Of course I unscrewd because thought that I will not have a chance to walk at table anymore, but I did not mean to give up a frame.

Well if you think that then you should just shake the guys hand and rack em up for the next frame.

Much quicker than unscrewing your cue!

                  . . or just buy yourself a 1 piece cue . .

                    Unscrewed cue in frame

It's called gamesmanship unscrewing your cue before frame is over and is not gentleman like. It's a big no no in local leagues in snooker. As it puts people off. It's not actually in the rules. But it shouldn't be done. Hope this helps. Sm

                      Correction from my posting:
In the EPA (World Eight Ball Ball) Guidance to Referees - 2009, section 12. Loss of Frame Fouls (Rule N):
"Points that will be classified as “Breaching the Spirit of the Game” are:
                      ...
Player (or players partner in doubles) breaking down, or putting away, cue.
                      "

[so that covers the 1pc as well ]

Just don't unscrew your cue again (mid frame), simples.

Your opponent obviously noticed this and it put him off his stride. You don't want to get labeled a cheat.

Personally i beilieve it should be considered a concession but during the season there i watched a match on tv where stephen hendry unscrewed his cue only for his opponent to miss and hendry to clear up and win. Its poor sportsmanship i think and puts added pressure on the opponent to win at that visit

your actions are against rule one and therefore you have conceded yes.

                              Frazz,

I remember you playing on table 6 in the Masters Snooker Club against a boy (i know who but won't tell) in an amateur tournament. You scored a 90 break (missed the brown). After the missed brown, you started taking balls out the pocket, he claimed the frame stating that you conceded, as you took the balls out the pockets without him conceding.

This was about 6/7 years ago btw. lol.
