It doesn't go on days but the amount you play. I normally find a couple of hours is enough to break a tip in. Unless you have a dud tip. after I put a new tip on I use an old cue ball which I use to gently tap the tip into shape/flatten the fibres! This normally shortens the breaking in time for me to about an hour.
