  • snooker cue question

I used to play snooker as a teen (I am now retired) and am trying
to buy a fairly decent snooker cue as I am using an old pool cue
with a 13mm tip (21 oz). I like a large tip but would like to try
and find a tip around 11-12 mm in the price range of $100-150.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Robert

It might be difficult to find a snooker cue with a ferrule larger than 10mm as most manufacturers top out at that diameter.

Most players will use anywhere from about 8.7mm to 9.5mm (except Higgins who uses 10mm). Try Stu Green at Greenbaize and see if he has anything within your price range and specs although I doubt he will have anything with a ferrule larger than 10mm unless you go to his American pool range of cues

It seems the standard length of a cue on eBay is 57", I use a shorter cue 55" which increased the tip size to 11.4" which I find perfect. If you look for a post hereunder about LP cue's you will see the cue I bought and the price I paid.

some old cues have 11mm tips.

If you are ordering a custom cue, the cue maker will make to your specs.

          Thanks everyone for your replies.
I am looking at John Parrott cues and I did look into Dunn but they
are made in Thailand which seems a bit odd to me.
I may have more questions to come but thanks.

Some very good cues are made in Thailand
But I thought Dunns were made in Hong Kong

It appears some are indeed made in Thailand.
Perhaps I will reconsider Dunns in my search.
              I did email the Greenbaize.

              Thanks again for the help.
