G. W. Slade?

I wonder if anyone could shed any light on a cue that's come into the possession of a friend of mine. He thinks it might have been won by a G W Slade and then passed on to his father and down to him.

There's a metal plate on the butt inscribed with:

G. W. Slade
23 decr
1921

If any of the history buffs on here happen to recognise the name anything you could tell us would be of interest.

Only a negative reply I'm afraid. The achievement of G. W. Slade was not recorded in the national press, nor is there any mention of his name as a player (either billiards or snooker) a couple of decades either side of this date. If it was a local championship of some sort, there may have been a report in the newspapers of your area, so your best bet would be the public library microfiche records.
