  • 14. Foul and a Miss Sec C - central full ball contact

    14. Foul and a Miss
    (c) After a miss has been called under paragraph (b) above when there was a clear path in a
    straight line from the cue-ball to a ball that was on or that could have been on, (such that central,
    full-ball, contact was available in the case of Reds, this to be taken as a full diameter of any Red
    that is not obstructed by a colour
    ),

    What does this mean?
    eg one red remaining or only the colours remain, is this to be interpreted as 'seeing' the whole ball ie the same as for determining a free ball?

    or is it the 'amount' of on ball available to be hit being within the width of 2 touching balls ie one diameter? (See JPG at http://photoshare.shaw.ca/view/13962...17-71859/13962 )

    or some other interpretation?

    Imagine this: there are two colours which are exactly one ball's width apart. You need to be able to pass the cue ball through that gap to make central contact with a red. It is totally different from the definition of a snooker, as you do not have to be able to hit both of the finest edges, simply the middle of the ball.
